Q. What is Detailing.

A. Detailing is the term given for the performance of an extremely thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing of a vehicle both inside and out to produce a show-quality level of detail. It can be practiced for personal satisfaction or performed to prepare a car for car shows that feature the appearance of the cars involved, this has been referred to as “Show and Shine” competitions. Besides improving the appearance of cars, detailing helps to preserve the car, and thus, increases or helps keep its resale value

Q. Why not just go to a hand car wash.

A. A hand car wash is effectively a conveyor belt cleaning machine, inevitably the way these work reduces the amount of time and care taken with your car, using the same sponge and chamois on your car as they have with everyone else’s that day and not to mention using the same bucket of dirty water.

Q. You mention decontamination, what does this mean.

A. Decontamination is a term used to remove embedded rail dust, brake dust , industrial fallout and other harsh dirt particles that adhere to your cars paintwork, it involves the use of a “clay bar” which is a product that picks up all in its path leaving the paintwork smooth and clean.

Q. What is the difference between Detailing and Reflectology’s Paintwork Reconditioning.

A. Whilst we are still keen to express the term detailing Russell has always considered himself more of a Paint Correction Specialist, with a background from this area Russell has this knowledge to hand where the majority of detailers have a valeting background. This is not to say other professionals cannot provide an exceptional service but knowledge of paintwork and different types of paint is a particular area that Russell was trained in, hence him taking the term Paintwork Reconditioning or Correction Specialist to move his business and the whole sector forward.

Q. What causes the swirls i can see in my paintwork.

A. Swirling is caused by poor and/or incorrect wash procedures which is more commonly associated with the hand car wash procedures and automatic car washes.

Q. How do you remove swirls.

A. Swirling and other defects can be removed via a term called paint correction, what this does is by using various compounds and polishes by machine we can remove almost all defects we are faced with.
